The Challenge
What TopGum Was Facing
TopGum connected food service businesses with wholesale suppliers on a subscription platform. Early retention was weak because buyers logged in reactively — only when they had run out of stock — rather than using the platform as a proactive procurement tool. Without habitual daily usage, the subscription felt optional. Churn was 22% monthly and the sales team was burning CAC on customers who cancelled within 90 days.
The Solution
What We Built
We built a predictive reorder engine that analysed each buyer historical consumption patterns and surfaced reorder recommendations before stock ran out. Push notifications and weekly digest emails brought buyers back into the platform on a predictable cadence. Supplier-side tools — bulk order management, delivery scheduling, and invoice reconciliation — made TopGum the operational centre of the supply relationship, not just a catalogue. The subscription tier structure was redesigned around supplier connection count, aligning price to the scale of the buyer network.
